The announcement for Rhodes to the Top’s second season comes from Dave Meltzer, a renowned wrestling and sports writer. Details regarding an official date on when to expect the second season of Rhodes to the Top and an official number of episodes have not been released yet. Rhodes to the Top was the first reality series derived from AEW to be broadcast on cable television. Many other AEW stars edit and film their own vlogs to share their experiences both professionally and personally on YouTube. The talent includes The Elite (including The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Adam Cole), TNT Champion Sammy Guevara, Ethan Page, and the Dark Order’s Evil Uno.
Rhodes to the Top was first announced in March and was advertised over the next six months before it premiered in September. The reality series gave a backstage look into AEW, featuring occasional appearances from other AEW stars including Pres10 Vance, QT Marshall, Ricky Starks, Darby Allin, Jade Cargill, Red Velvet, and many others. Rhodes to the Top also focused on the personal lives of both Brandi and Cody, as the two navigated the change spurred by the birth of their first child.
The first season of Rhodes to the Top encompassed six episodes. It often aired immediately after Dynamite on Wednesdays, but two of the episodes aired following special broadcasts of Dynamite that instead aired on Saturday. The late timeslot and shift in days altered the average viewership per episode. Despite beginning with over 400,000 viewers, the first season only averaged 360,000 viewers. It’s rating in the often crucial 18-49 demographic was only a .15. While Dynamite is scheduled to move to TBS at the start of the new year, Rampage and Rhodes to the Top will continue to air on TNT. Dynamite’s move may have an impact on the ratings if the reality show is able to snag an earlier timeslot.
The ability to receive an inside look into the lives and creation of a product like AEW will always have the ability to attain a strong viewership. Some will tune into the reality series with the hope of receiving a glimpse of one of their favorite AEW stars. A second season of Rhodes to the Top may have a larger draw, especially given that Cody is also a judge on the Go Big Show, which has also been greenlit for a second season on TBS. Given the recent responses he has received from AEW crowds, ratings may continue to fluctuate.
Rhodes to the Top is now available on TNT.
