The last Rick and Morty episode that aired before the series took a small break starting October was “Juricksic Mort”, which more significantly also saw Rick finally repair his portal gun that had been absent until then. Thus, it’s safe to say Rick and Morty could be back to their old ways when the show returns on November 20, with the threat of the evil Rick Prime looming somewhere in the multiverse.

The brief 30-second preview posted by Adult Swim appears to feature scenes from at least two or three different episodes to the tune of Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, including some aquatic scenery that might suggest Mr. Nimbus could return to Rick and Morty, as well buzz of a potential nuclear war involving the Amish. More interestingly, the teaser also has the rare sight of Rick going to therapy, which suggests the character could be on the verge of some major psychological breakthrough moment in a season that’s already told fans so much about Rick’s past.

The other two prominent scenes see Morty going medieval for a swordsmanship duel and the pair hanging out with a new young bug-like friend that’s also seen getting into trouble later on. Much to the dismay of Rick and Morty fans, there’s no sight of the Butter Morty that was added to the show’s opening sequence for this season, and the same goes for the Fortnite-ready armored Jerry, but there’s also nothing that can rule them out yet.

Rick and Morty’s season 6 has seen the show obtain consistently positive reviews after a tumultuous fifth season, with the added element of loose linearity in the story being something viewers can potentially look forward to any given week. Even more so, that’s been accomplished without sacrificing Rick and Morty’s ability to surprise fans with unique bottle episodes, such as the eerie Halloween-themed entry many fans loved.

Whether the 80s metal anthem has some bigger implications in the way Rick and Morty tackle the rest of the year remains to be seen. Regardless of that, once season 6 ends, fans can still look forward to more Rick and Morty Fortnite collaborations and anime coming straight from Japan in the future.

Rick and Morty season 6 returns to Adult Swim on November 20, 2022.
